An antique French cast iron decorative ornament, pierced and modelled with two winged cherubs (putti) flanking a central face or mask (mascaron), surrounded by scrolling foliate and acanthus work. Traditionally used as architectural mount — the type used as an applied crest or gate mount. Cast in iron with an old dark painted/patinated surface, with a mounting hole at the top and a lug at the base. A sculptural, romantic piece with genuine age that displays beautifully on a wall.
