Hinged Wooden Shoe Last - Shoemaker's Form

An antique French wooden shoe last (forme à chaussure) of the hinged type, carved in solid beech with the small nail holes along the vamp from its working life. The last is made in two parts joined by an iron hinge, with a turned wooden pull knob at the heel that, when folded forward, collapses the form so it can be withdrawn from a finished shoe.  Now to be used as a sculptural object that works grouped with other treen, on a shelf, mantel or dresser, or as a standing curiosity.
