French Wooden Garden Trug / Gathering Basket
An antique French wooden trug or gathering basket, hand-built from thin boards with canted sides and a tall arched carrying handle fixed with old nails. Made to carry vegetables, fruit or flowers in from the garden, the timber worn to a soft grey-gold patina from long use. Nail heads, splits and old repairs throughout show its working life. A characterful piece that works for display, as a storage caddy, or holding plants and dried stems.
