Small Glazed Terracotta Confit Pot — Italian, 19th Century

An antique Italian glazed terracotta confit pot of tapering form, with small lug handles at the shoulder. The upper body is glazed in a bright ochre-yellow with dripping running down toward the mid-point; the lower half is left unglazed, as only the upper portion needed sealing for storage. Wheel-thrown in warm buff clay. A characterful small vessel that works on a shelf, grouped with other pottery, or holding dried stems.
