Faux-Bamboo Miniature Cabinet

Faux-Bamboo Miniature Cabinet

An antique French faux-bamboo miniature cabinet (meuble miniature), a salesman's sample or child's piece in the style of the full-size faux-bamboo furniture popular in France from the 1880s onward. Built in turned and lathe-ribbed fruitwood worked to imitate bamboo, with a shaped crest above a bevelled mirror-glazed door over a single lower drawer with its original pierced brass drop handles. Warm honey patina throughout.

A charming decorative piece that works on a dresser, shelf or mantel, as a jewellery or trinket cabinet, or displayed as a collector's miniature.
