Set of 27 Large Antique French Art School Posters (c. 1860–1890) — “Méthode de Dessin” by Vigneron — Academic Drawing Plates for Architecture & Figure Study — Atelier Wall Art

A rare and impressive set of 27 large-format 19th-century French academic drawing plates, originally used in Écoles des Beaux-Arts and architectural ateliers. These lithographic posters come from the celebrated “Méthode de Dessin par Vigneron”, a widely used instructional series that taught classical drawing, proportion, perspective, and architectural ornament.

Each plate demonstrates a different exercise:
• construction of the head & profile
• shading and modeling of features
• classical sculpture studies (Apollo, Fénelon, Medici vase, etc.)
• Greek & Roman ornament
• architectural volutes, acanthus, and rosettes
• geometric drawing, perspective, and technical layout
• drapery and figure proportion studies

Printed in Paris around 1860–1890, these large teaching sheets were meant to hang in classrooms or lie flat on student easels. Because they were used heavily, surviving examples are increasingly rare — especially in sets.

Condition varies: several plates are in good vintage condition, while others show heavy wear, tears, foxing, or staining. The set is sold as found, retaining the authentic patina of an old French atelier.
