19th Century Neoclassical Fonte Cemetery Urn
This late 19th to early 20th century French cast iron cemetery vase (vase de cimetière) was designed to sit atop grave monuments in Catholic cemeteries across France. The fluted trumpet-shaped cup, gadrooned midsection, and tiered pedestal base are classic Napoleon III Neoclassical ironwork. Traces of original silvery-grey foundry paint survive beneath a rich, honest patina, and a partially legible foundry stamp remains visible on the base. A striking decorative object today — style it as a bud vase, mantelpiece accent, or sculptural piece in any interior that values authenticity and age.
