Provencal Glazed Earthenware Bowl / Tian

An antique Provencal glazed earthenware bowl (tian) from the South of France, wheel-thrown in a warm red terracotta and glazed inside with a thick cream-ivory glaze that pools and crazes over the edge. The exterior shows signs of red worn away from years of use. The clay foot and base showing beneath in raw earthenware.  Solid and satisfyingly heavy at over 1 kg.
